ELINOR HILL (published on January 24, 2009)

ELINOR HILL It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elinor on January 21, 2009 at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Elinor was predeceased by her husband Martin in 1981, her son Allan in 1999, her sister Pauline, and brothers Henry and Laurus. Elinor will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sons, Barry (Marilyn) Hill, and Douglas Hill; her grandchildren, Donald (Jessica), Robert (Susan), Melanie, Steven, Jason, Amanda, Keith (Crystal), Dustin, Lauren, Susan, and Katie; as well as eight great-grandchildren. Elinor is also survived by her sister Dora Hill of Winnipeg, her brother Brian Jalmarson (Joan) of Richmond, BC and her beloved nieces and nephews. Elinor lived her entire life in Winnipeg. After her marriage to Martin, she devoted her time to caring for home and family, and participating in neighbourhood activities. Later, she worked for many years at Eaton's mail order, and at Sears. Elinor was an out-going person who enjoyed the company of her family and friends. She was a devoted and supportive grandma, who took an active interest in the lives of her grandchildren. Elinor cultivated many friendships, and enjoyed holidays and bus trips. In her retirement years, she participated in bowling and lawn bowling, and helped with the bingo evenings at Kildonan Manor, where she lived until her illness. In these last few years, Elinor has resided at the Maples Personal Care Home. Elinor's 85th birthday was celebrated there in December. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Maples for their compassionate care, and to the family and friends who visited Elinor during her time there. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 26th, 2009 in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue, West at 11:00 a.m. Lynda Trenholm officiating. FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS IN CARE OF: WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVE. WEST (at Bond) 224-1525
