ARTHUR ART JOISTDAHL (published on January 24, 2009)

ARTHUR ART JOISTDAHL It is with great sadness we are announcing the passing of Arthur Joistdahl on January 14th, 2009. He died peacefully in the Golden West Centennial Lodge in Winnipeg. Art was born in Preeceville, Sask. June 5, 1914. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Deanna Griffen; son Orin (Sue); granddaughters, Darian (Chris) Stroud, Cathy (Chris) Griffen, Jane (Simon) McDermott and Ann (Alex) Blaikley. Great-grandsons, Nicholas and Kole Stroud, and William Blaikley. Sister Agnes Carlson and a number of nieces and nephews. Also dear friends Vera and Orest Rosolowich. Art was predeceased by his loving wife Myrtle and his son-in-law Richard Griffen. He moved to Dauphin in 1939 and lived there until 2005, when he moved to Golden West Lodge in Winnipeg. In past years he was an active member of the Dauphin community having owned Nicks Tire Shop (Goodyear Dealer), a long time member of the Dauphin Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the BPO Elks Lodge and served faithfully for many years in the Dauphin First United Church. Arthur was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, teaching us through the years to respect others, to show good sportsmanship, to be honest in life and to love and appreciate music. We would like to send particular thank you to the Dauphin Home Care Workers who made it possible for him to remain in his home until 90 years of age. We also want to thank the staff at Golden West Centennial Lodge for their excellent care and support in his last years. A TRUE GENTLEMAN HAS PASSED. In lieu of flowers, donations in Art's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Society. Arrangements taken care of by Sneath Strilchuk Funeral Chapel Dauphin.
