SYDNEY CRAIK (published on January 24, 2009)



SYDNEY CRAIK Sydney Craik was born in Manchester, England on June 27, 1911. He lived in England until he immigrated with his family to Canada in the spring of 1925. They settled in Paddockwood, Saskatchewan where he went to school and got his grade 8. He farmed with his parents. He went logging in the wintertime. He also worked on the threshing crews during the fall harvest. Sydney met and married Daisy Wright on July 21, 1942. They lived in Paddockwood until the fall of 1947. They moved to Sutherland, Saskatchewan, until the family moved to a farm north of Saskatoon. In November 1950, they moved to a farm in Langruth, Manitoba where he continued farming until he retired in 1990. He had six children. Sydney was an active member of the Langruth United Church until 2001. Sydney is predeceased by his wife Daisy; his parents, Robert and Florence; one brother John; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence (Joseph) Lybeck, Agnes (George) Hood and Phyllis (Campbell) McIntyre; nieces, Lorraine Johansen and Audrey Ranta; and daughter-in-law Margaret Craik. He leaves to mourn his passing his children, Barbara Ann, Robert (Ann), Leslie (Marlene), Grace, Linda (Arnie), John (Ann); and grandchildren Robbie, Dana and children, Zoey and Kobe, Darryl (Melanie) and children, Kelly, Brandon, and Mackenzie, Kurtis (Sharon) and child Devlin, Jo Ann (Candace), Kaylene, Danyelle, Lisa (John) and children, Andrew, Katelyn and Noah, Victoria (Mike) and child Aaron, David (Jodie) and children, Makaila and Kade, Ashley (Blair), Stephanie, and Jonathan (Kevin); several nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins in England. Memorial service will be held April 4, 2009 at the Langruth United Church, Langruth, Manitoba. Interment will follow in the Langruth Cemetery.
