WILLIAM WRIGHT WALKER (published on January 24, 2009)

WILLIAM WRIGHT WALKER September 18, 1920 Bill passed away on January 19, 2009 after a short illness. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all the members of his family. He was predeceased by his wife Lorna and sister Audrey Felty. He is survived by his daughter, Glenna Lindsay and her husband Bob; by his son Timothy and wife Lisa; by his grandchildren Kristen, Scott, and Cynthia; by his great-grandson William, and by his brother-in-law John Carpenter and his wife Barbara. Bill flew as a navigator with R.C.A.F in the Second World War and was employed by the City of Winnipeg and previous organizations from 1948 until 1986. His activities in his retirement years included a most memorable trip to Egypt and Israel; numerous school and university typing assignments for his granddaughter, Kristen; many Meals-on-Wheels deliveries with his son-in-law Bob; voracious reading, and games of golf, bridge and scrabble. Many thanks to the health care professionals at the Victoria General Hospital for their care and compassion. His cremation jar will be buried at Elmwood Cemetery in the Walker plot. A service will be held on Saturday, January 31 at 2:00 p.m. in Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Ave. with Rev. Clark Saunders officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB., R3T 0R3.
