HELEN GOULD (published on January 24, 2009)

HELEN GOULD (GUY) (nee FUCHS) It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother on January 19, 2009 in her 87th year. Helen was born on July 23, 1922, the second child of George Fuchs and his wife Marija. Raised in Winnipeg from an early age, Helen lived a full life, motivated by a strong work ethic. She was the first full time female employee of Canada Post in Winnipeg. If one were to describe her essential nature, generosity, honesty and loyalty, spring most readily to mind, followed closely by courage. She loved a good book, a game of Scrabble, and Bingo, not necessarily in that order. She was on the executive of the Watt Street Complex Seniors' Club for many years. She never met a dog or cat she didn't like. Helen was predeceased by her father and mother; her brother Peter Fox and his wife Nancy; stepmother Kathe; cousin Theresa and her husband Harry Koehler; her oldest and dearest friend Anne Saunders, and numerous aunts and uncles in Europe. She is survived by her sons Eric Guy (Valerie), and Phillip Guy; special nieces Janet Hohm (Garry), and Carolyn Buck (Larry) whose visits were treasured, and her extended family. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all the staff on the third floor at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their efforts on Helen's behalf during her residence. At her request, cremation has taken place. There will be no memorial service. Interment will take place in Elmwood Cemetery at a later date. Should you wish, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Helen's memory to D'Arcy's A R C, or the Winnipeg Humane Society. Loved ones live on in the words they said in the lives they touched
