JOHN CHARLES (JACK) COOPER (published on January 27, 2009)

JOHN CHARLES (JACK) COOPER October 23, 1937 - January 23, 2009 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 71, Jack Cooper, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, surrounded by all his loving family, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Portage General Hospital. Jack was born and grew up in Winnipeg, MB. He was the third child of five born to Joseph and Mildred Cooper. Jack attended Centennial School and spent his early years growing up in West Kildonan. There at the age of 12, he met the neighbour's daughter, who became his sweetheart and the love of his life. They were engaged in 1958 and married on April 25, 1959. They had four children and enjoyed life to the fullest. Jack worked for the Hudson Bay for eight years as a delivery driver in Winnipeg. They moved to Portage la Prairie in 1970 where he worked for Guinn and Simpson as a memorialist. He worked for the City of Portage as a mechanic and at McCain's as a refrigeration and air conditioning technician. In 1987 they moved to Bagot, MB where they still resided. Dad spent the last 20 years working side by side with his true love and partner, Marion. Dad loved to fish with all his family, play Krokeno, Uno and Crib. He joined in enthusiastically to play football, basketball, Frisbee and botchi ball games at family gatherings. One of his joys in life was times he spent scrounging the bush and ditches for golf balls. Dad also had a love of working with wood and made many wonderful gifts for family and friends. He also had a love for nature and all of God's creatures. Dad instilled in all his family values that shaped our lives and made us who we are today. Predeceased by one granddaughter Amanda, his father Joseph, his brother Doug, sister Norma and his mother and father-in-law, Leonard and Beatrice Webb. He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife, best friend and partner Marion. Daughter Jacqueline (Daryl) Hanna, their children; John (Jen) and great-granddaughter Isabelle, Daniel (Kara) and great-granddaughter Brooke, Alicia (Chris) and great-grandson Walker, Janette (Bryce) and great-grandson Landen, Corey (Ashley) and great-grandsons Brodi and Trevor, daughter Heather (Ric) Adamski, their children, Kyle (Celena) great-grandchildren, Caiden, Callie and Baby Sadie, Nicole (Zak), son Joe (Kellie) Cooper, son Stephen (Donna) Cooper, their children, Cody and Taner.
