Bob's memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife Marilyn of 52 years of marriage; his son Rob and his daughters, Lisa Marin (Ron), and Margaret Rettie (Bob). Granddaddy will also be sadly missed by his four grandchildren, Tyson, Alana, Leah and Rick, as well as his siblings in Thunder Bay, Albert (Bud) and Georgina Brotherton, Gertrude (Bunk) Kernaghan, Sister Anne Brotherton, and John and Lynn Brotherton. Bob was predeceased by his mother (Mary Brotherton), father (Louis Brotherton), and sisters, Inez Devine, Barbara Bruce, Phyllis Quart and infant sister Lucy Brotherton. Growing up in Thunder Bay (Fort William), surrounded by a large and loving family, Bob met Marilyn and they later married in Winnipeg. As a young man he attended St. Paul's High School in Winnipeg where he enjoyed much success playing basketball and football. Bob was thrilled to recently attend the 50th anniversary celebration of the Fort William Red Skins football team winning the Canadian Intermediate Championships in Thunder Bay. He was also a dedicated, long time employee of J.I. Case. Bob and Marilyn were members of the Red River Terrier Club of Manitoba, proudly breeding and showing their Kerry Blue Terriers for over 35 years. They met many good friends through these events. Funeral Mass will celebrated on Friday, January 30 at 1:00 p.m., in the St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street with Rev. Msgr. Louis McCloskey, presiding. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff on wards 4GD and 5GD at the Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre for their gentle care of Bob over the last month. A very special thanks to Pat Taylor for her invaluable assistance. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial donations in Bob's name may be made to your local Humane Society or the charity of your choice. Condolences may be emailed to Wojcik's at wfc2157@mts.net |
