ROGER EUGENE MASSEREY (published on January 28, 2009)



ROGER EUGENE MASSEREY With his family by his side - peacefully at Foyer Valade on Monday, January 26, 2009, Roger Eugene Masserey, aged 83 years, joined his wife Patricia who predeceased him on October 17, 1989. Roger was also predeceased by his parents, Jacques Louis Masserey and Marie Olga Caláme and his sisters, Marcelle Masserey and Pierette Marion; his son-in-law and grandson, George Dowse, senior and junior. Roger is survived by his sons, Robert, Michael (Mary), Gerald (Tanya) and Paul (Sandi). His daughters, Thérèse, Lorraine (Ron), Eliane (James), Suzanne (Sam); and his sisters, Odette Guyot and Christiane Bonin (Gerry); his brothers, Jim and John (Annette), 17 grand-children, 15 great-grandchildren, plus two more on the way. As a child Roger was known as Roger Arranger (Roger will fix). In 1941 Roger joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Edmonton. He served a second term, where he was in charge of a crew of 17 men servicing the Alaskan Highway. Then in 1949 he returned to Winnipeg to work for Manitoba Hydro for a short period of time before joining Manitoba Telephone Systems where he served 31 years. Prayers in honour of Roger will be said on Friday, January 30, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Trans Canada Highway East at Navin Road. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 778 Archibald Street with Father Ron Leger Celebrant, followed by a reception in the church hall. The service will terminate at the church. Private family interment to follow at a later date. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Raymond and Wesley Dowse, Michael, Ryan, Matthew and Christopher Masserey. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Foyer Valade for the continuous professional and loving care Dad received. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation in his name to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4G2.
