DOROTHY MORRISON CAMPBELL (published on February 10, 2009)

DOROTHY MORRISON CAMPBELL Dorothy M. Campbell passed away at Concordia Hospital on Thursday morning, January 29, 2009. She was predeceased by her parents, Agnes (Aicken) and John Campbell; sisters Mary, Margaret, Caroline, Marion and Sadie; brothers James and Hugh; nephew Hugh John and great- nephew Glen. Dorothy was born in Winnipeg, May 27, 1919, and spent the majority of her life here except for a season in Vancouver in the 1940's. She attended Lord Selkirk School, Glenelm School and St. John's High School as well as Dominion Business College. She was employed by Winnipeg Typewriter Exchange for seven years and then by CIBC for 37 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Gordon King Memorial United Church and taught Sunday School there for many years. Most of her life was spent at home with her father and two sisters, which was for the wider family a special place of unreserved hospitality. We will remember her as a woman of quiet, steady and modest character, who passionately loved cats and dogs! Dorothy is survived by nieces Marion Brim, Ruth Campbell, Caroline Spehar and Irene Frew; nephews David Gray, Brian Campbell, Paul Campbell, Donald Poole and Ian Poole. Three further generations of nieces and nephews will mourn her departure as well. A memorial service to honour Dorothy's life will be held at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy, 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2009, with lunch to follow. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, donations may be directed to the Winnipeg Humane Society in her memory.
