LILLIAN ZIESKE (published on February 12, 2009)

LILLIAN ZIESKE (nee HECKERT) It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, grandma and great-grandma, Lillian Zieske, on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the age of 86. Mom is survived by her children Dennis (Gertie), Billy (Eleanor) and Sherry (Terry) Komadowski, her grandchildren Andrea (Jason), Michelle (Patrick), Duane, Craig (Stacey), Kevin (Wanda) and Megan, great- grandchildren Santana, Dedrick, Ryan, Kaydyn, Madison, Carter and Colton and sister-in-law Antoinette Heckert. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred, son Larry, daughter-in-law Connie, brothers Fred, John and Henry, sisters Huldina, Frieda, Ella and Tillie, mother-in-law Hermina Litke and a daughter in infancy. Mom was born in Benson, SK. At the age of 10, she moved with her family to St. Peter's, north of Selkirk. She married our Dad in August of 1942. Together they farmed and raised their family in Greenwald. Mom remained on the farm after Dad's passing until the flood of 1997 forced her to leave and relocate her home to Tyndall. Mom loved her garden and had numerous flowerbeds and planters. She enjoyed going to garage and auction sales, collecting many treasures and knick-knacks. Our mom was hard working, loving and caring. Being outgoing, she loved to talk and made friends easily. When visiting, she always made sure one never left hungry and made everyone feel welcome. She had a fun loving nature and will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12 at Sobering Funeral Chapel, 1035 Park Avenue East, Beausejour with Rev. Mark Koenker officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Viewing will be Wednesday, February 11 until 8:00 p.m. also at the Chapel and prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Lillian's name may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association, 200 - 310 Broadway Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or St. John's Lutheran Church, Greenwald.
