JOYCE SYLVIA BROOKS (published on February 14, 2009)
JOYCE SYLVIA BROOKS (nee HOCCOM) January 30, 1927 - February 10, 2009 Peacefully, in Ottawa, ON, surrounded by family in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of Arnold, dearly loved mother of Craig (Kathleen), Gary (Margaret), Carole (Tony) and Janice (Alan). Cherished grandmother of Damian (Elizabeth), John (Katerina), Nathaniel, Ryan (Krystyna), Erinn (Ian), Anna, Blair and Megan. Great grandmother of Stuart, Natasha and Dexter. Loving aunt of Barbara Ann MacDonald (Paul) and great aunt of Sylvia. Predeceased by her sister Phyllis and her brothers Kenneth and Earle. Her credo, her statement of belief could be summed up in her smile which was always there when she met you... Give a smile to someone passing, thereby make their morning glad. It may greet you in the evening when your own heart may be sad. Throughout her life she was a dedicated wife and mother who was always ready to support and defend her family. While she encountered a number of illnesses in her lifetime she never lost her faith in surviving so that she could be a part of her family. People were drawn to her and over her lifetime she built up a large reservoir of treasured friends. Family and friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home, 3000 Woodroffe Avenue, Barrhaven, Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service Monday, February 16, 2009 in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment to take place privately at Capital Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Kelly Funeral Home, Ottawa, ON (613)-823-4747 www.kellyfh.ca I loved her not for what she was, but for what I was when I was with her. I love you Joyce. |
