DONALD M. ARMSTRONG (published on February 14, 2009)

DONALD M. ARMSTRONG Peacefully, on February 11, 2009, Don passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 88. Don is survived by his wife Jean Armstrong of 63 years, his daughters Susan Hamilton, and Betty Stephenson, husband Brad; and grandchildren Cathy, Heather and Bryn. Don was born January 12, 1921 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He joined the Royal Bank in February 1939 in Cardston, Alberta. He was in the Supervisors Department in Alberta, Senior Inspector of Saskatchewan, and worked in branches all over Alberta. He relocated back to Winnipeg in 1966, where he retired from the Portage and Maryland Branch in 1979, after 40 years of service. Don served in the RCAF in Canada and England during the Second World War. He joined the Masonic Lodge in June 1955, joined the Shrine Foot Patrol in 1985, of which he was Treasurer for many years. Don also served for one year as President. An enthusiastic sports fan, Don enjoyed curling, bowling, and years of playing golf at the Assiniboine Golf Club of which he was a member for many years. He was much loved by his family and friends, and will be greatly missed by us all. At Don's request a small memorial for immediate family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your charities of choice.
