GERALD LESLIE SMITH (published on February 14, 2009)

GERALD LESLIE SMITH 1935 - 2009 Surrounded by his loving wife and family on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at the age of 73, Gerald peacefully passed away at St. Boniface General Hospital. Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Olga; daughter Lori (Lloyd); son Darryl (Angela) and two loving grandsons Tyson and Alexander; siblings Joyce, Gary and Bernie (Marilyn). He was predeceased by his infant daughter Patricia (1961) and his mother Lena (2003). Gerry was born in Gladstone, MB and came to Winnipeg at an early age. He spent most of his career in the flooring industry, retiring from Antex Western in 1994. Gerry liked to putter in the garden, always striving for the biggest tomatoes. Gerry and Olga liked to spend their summers at the cottage at White Lake picking blueberries and enjoying a morning cup of coffee on the deck. They also enjoyed their many trips to Hawaii. Most of all Gerry enjoyed family get-togethers. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface General Hospital for their excellent care. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Cremation has taken place. Interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerry's memory to the Lung Association of Manitoba, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. Our lives go on without you But nothing is the same. We have to hide our heartaches When someone speaks your name. Sad are the hearts that love you Silent the tears that fall. Living our days without you Is the hardest part of all. You did so many things for us Your heart was kind and true. And when we needed someone. We could always count on you. The special years will not return When we were all together. But with the love within our hearts You will walk with us forever. 586-8044
