GERRY (GERAS) JOROWSKI (published on February 14, 2009)

GERRY (GERAS) JOROWSKI After a long, hard, noble battle, we are deeply saddened by the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, son and brother Gerry Jorowski on Friday, February 6, 2009 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 64 years. Remaining to forever cherish Gerry's memory are his wife Jacqueline; daughters, Jackie (Greg) and Sheila Clifford (Marlon); granddaughter Cheyanne; mother Fran; sister Van Iversen (Randy); nephews, Devin, Billy (Angel son Quinnten); as well as many aunts, cousins, friends and neighbors too numerous to mention here. All are known and gratefully acknowledged in our hearts. He was predeceased by his father Tony. Born in Winnipeg March 1, 1944, Ger spent his childhood in Pine Falls, as an active participant in all sports. He attended U of M and spent most of his career with Federal Department of Consumer and Corporate Affairs, the latter 18 years in headquarters Ottawa, traveling throughout Canada, the USA and Europe. He took great pleasure in his dogs Tawny, Steed, Riley and Skye. A great camper, canoer and open fire chef as well a downhill and cross country skier. Gerry's passion was golf and curling, enjoying the Rideau, Ottawa, Rockcliffe and RCMP clubs while in Ottawa. He retired in Winnipeg in 1997, curling at Assiniboine, Thistle, Fort Rouge and Heather clubs. Golfing with the Lutheran Church group and the Senior's Inter-club always looking forward to being with the guys. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 18 at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 3390 Portage Avenue at Rouge Road, with Rev. Msgr. Maurice Comeault, P. H., presiding. Our sincere appreciation for the gentle care and compassion given by Palliative Care (Chris and Merriette) and the Victoria and St. Boniface hospital staff. In lieu of flowers, a donation to CancerCare Manitoba, (Colorectal), 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, would be in keeping with Ger's wishes. The light laughter and love you've brought into our lives will always be with us. We miss you deeply. Forever beautiful in our eyes.
