GRANT COMPTON (published on February 24, 2009)

GRANT COMPTON It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Grant Compton at Concordia Hospital on February 20, 2009, at the age of 67 years. Grant is survived by his loving daughter Allyson (Tery) Hyde and granddaughters Jenilyn, Kelsey, of Winkler, also daughters Colleen (Randy) Jardine, Charlene (Norm) LaBoeuf, Halifax and soul mate Dolores. He also leaves to mourn brother Charles (Linda), Salmo, BC, sisters Judy (Rod) Ewen, Pleasant Valley, MB, Heather Compton, Vancouver, BC, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Kathleen and father Jack Compton. Born in Winnipeg in 1941 and raised in Austin, MB, Grant started his working career as an orderly at Deer Lodge Hospital, then moved to the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities where he enjoyed helping people. He will always be remembered for his gentle, caring and kind disposition. Grant's greatest passion was playing his fiddle. He was a natural, first playing in an old time band, The Austin Melodiers, and later playing with the Southglen Fiddlers. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street.
