ROBERT MARCH  (published on February 24, 2009)

ROBERT MARCH (MARCYNIUK) Peacefully on Friday February 20, 2009 at the age of 59, with his family by his side, Robert passed away after a courageous battle following a heart attack. Robert is survived by his loving wife Kathy; and his two sons Jordan (Kate) and Justin (Hailey). He also leaves to mourn his passing two brothers Peter (Kim) and Ken (Wendy); brother-in-law Brian (Monique); mother-in-law Ilene along with his nieces Arrie (daughter Nila), Halle, Loren, Liza, Meghan and nephew Tyler. He was predeceased by his father Phillip, mother Anna and nephew Matthew. Robert was born on January 15, 1950 in Szczecin Poland. His family immigrated to Canada in 1959 and settled in Point Douglas. Robert immediately found many new friends, most of which remain close to this day. Robert's Polish name is Bogdan (Boogie to most) and his old friends still affectionately refer to him by that. Robert attended St. John's High School and was very much looking forward to attending the 100th anniversary this year. Robert pursued a degree in fine arts at the University of Manitoba. He spent many years in Real Estate where he owned Crown Realty and as time progressed, he began working independently as an accountant. Robert had a passion for life and touched the hearts of so many people on his journey. He would always greet people with a big hug and a smile and loved a good conversation. He loved his wife and sons deeply and there was not a day that went by where he did not tell them so. His sons were his greatest pride and joy and he could never do enough for them. Robert loved to travel and over the course of his life visited many places throughout the world including the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and South America. Although he travelled to many places in his lifetime, his favorite spot to be was at Grand Beach on a hot summer day where he would always manage to find that perfect sandbar to soak up the sun. Robert was a true North End Treasure and was proud of it. He renamed his strip Corydon North and always enjoyed feisty conversations with his pals from the Wailing Wall at the North End Sals and with all the other business owners and friends in the area. Robert loved his Scotia Heights neighborhood and enjoyed building his little piece of paradise in his own back yard where many friends would regularly visit, sit around the fire pit, laugh and tell stories. His laughter, his love and his great hair will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the amazing nurses and doctors from the St. Boniface Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit. They were so kind to all of us and took such good care of Robert during these past 3 weeks. Our utmost thanks to family and friends who sent home cooked meals, get well cards, gift certificates and provided friendship and prayers during this time. A memorial service will be held to honour Robert's life on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Rev. Jamie Howison officiating. Cremation has taken place and a private interment service will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Robert's memory to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
