ALICE ELVIRE PINETTE (published on February 24, 2009)
ALICE ELVIRE PINETTE (nee VERHAEGHE) Mom was born in Ste. Amelie, Manitoba on December 16, 1914 where she resided until her move to Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba in 1987. She lived her life to its fullest, with faith in God, an appreciation of nature, acceptance and thankfulness for what she was given in life, and an abundance of love for her family. On Sunday, February 22, 2009 mom passed away peacefully with her family by her side. After suddenly becoming ill, mom gathered all of her children together to share joyous memories, laughter, love, prayers, songs, happiness and tears with her and amongst each other. Although it was difficult for her to communicate, mom gave us a wonderful gift by telling us that she loved us all. Despite her illness, mom continued to show great strength and courage which she passed on to all of her children in order to help us through this difficult time. Alice was predeceased by her loving husband, Frederic (1986), twin daughters, Anne Marie (1938) and Thérèse (1944), daughter Gisèle Masse (2004), son-in-law, Maurice Gendron (2002), and grandsons Robert Gendron (2002) and Stan Procyshyn (1998). Left with warm and cherished memories are her children, Irène Gendron, Lorraine (Garry Hamilton), Daniel, Lilliane (Roland Van De Kerckhove), Benoit (Denise), Gérald, Camille (Margaret), Edithe Fillion, Don Masse, Denis (Mariette), Estelle (Ned Funk), Jocelyne Pinette, Carmelle (Gilles Meilleur), Rosita (Ben Bouchard), numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one sister, brother, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. The family wishes to thank Dr. O'Hagan, Dr. Gudmundson, Pastoral Care, and all those who stopped by for a visit, provided support, food and comforting words to all of us. We are very grateful to all of the staff at the personal care home for all they did for us, but most of all we wish to acknowledge and thank all of them for providing such great care to our mom as well as becoming a part of her family. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. from the Ste. Rose De Lima Roman Catholic Church in Ste. Rose du Lac. Funeral Mass in honour of her life will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. from the Ste. Rose De Lima Roman Catholic Church in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba. A private interment will follow in the Ste. Amelie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations may be made in memory of Alice to the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home in Ste.
