MARGARET LOUISE HILTON (published on February 25, 2009)

MARGARET LOUISE HILTON It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our mom and grandma who at 91, left this world to go to a better place. Margaret Louise Hilton (nee Morton) died on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at home in her chair watching women's curling. Margaret was born in Brandon on September 8, 1917. She went to school at Brandon Collegiate where she met Glenn (Tony) Hilton. She graduated from nurses' training at Brandon General Hospital and married Tony on April 30, 1942. She had three children - Janice, who predeceased her in February 1981, Glenn (Judy) of Saskatoon, and Stephen (Charlotte) of Winnipeg. Besides her sons and their wives, Margaret leaves four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. During Tony's banking career, the couple moved throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Northern Ontario making numerous lifelong friends. They settled in Winnipeg where they were members at the Wildewood Club for years. Tony died in November 1986. Travel, golf, curling, bridge and family occupied much of Margaret's time. She was an avid reader and remained active until the end. Some of her favourite travel spots were Spain, England, Ireland, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Bali, and the Panama Canal. She taught us to be better people and to strive for who we are: to love, have a good life, be smart, have fun and to spend time with our kids and grandkids. She taught us to be who we are, be the best we can be and to never give up. The family would like to thank Dr. S. Permack, Dr. C. Baillie and Dr. G. Hutfluss, who cared for her so well over recent years. Margaret attended the weekly program at the Riverview Day Hospital and really enjoyed the staff and her workouts . The family would also like to thank the staff and residents of The Waverley where Margaret resided for the past two years. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Margaret's favourite charities were the Canadian Red Cross, Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, Salvation Army and CancerCare Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to www.mem.com
