VERA EILEEN BACK (published on February 28, 2009)
VERA EILEEN BACK Unexpectedly, but peacefully, our dear mother passed away on February 22, 2009. Mum was born in Norwood in 1920 to Hilda and Jackson Cree. She married Clarence Back (Chum) in 1941, and they moved the family to St. Vital in 1959. Mum impressed upon us the importance of friendships; she remained friends with chums from her childhood and with those she met along the way, well into her later years. She helped plan King George V Reunions. Having friends and family over for dinner or a cup of tea and a sweet was what she liked best. She loved all our friends, too, and always enjoyed visiting with them. Mum was predeceased by Dad in 1997; sisters, Margaret and Mildred; sons-in-law, Michael and Don; and good friend, Gwen Muir. She is greatly missed by daughters, Carol, Linda (Rick), Nancy (David); grandchildren, Don (Deb), Dave (Dita), Heather, Kathy, Scott, Garrett, Carly; great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Katrina, Abby; nieces, nephews and dear childhood friend, Isabel Delve, who was her bridesmaid. Thanks to The Rosewood staff and residents for making Mum feel so welcome during her short time there. Thanks to Dr. Heather Domke for the many years of good care and warmth. And thanks to friends, who always took time to make our Mother feel special. You are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, March 7, between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the Taunton Room at Windsor Community Club, 99 Springside Dr. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Mum's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or a charity of one's choice. Thanks for always being there for us, Mum we love you. |
