VIRGINIA HAM (published on February 28, 2009)



VIRGINIA HAM (nee KWASNY) Peacefully, on February 24, 2009 with her family at her side at Seven Oaks Hospital. Virginia was born on August 11, 1927 to Margaret and Harry Kwasny. Virginia will be lovingly remembered by her brothers, Peter (Tillie), Bill (Krystyna); sister, Jeanette; nephews, Jim Oste (Debbie), Gregg Kwasny (Geraldine); niece, Margaret Synyshyn (John); great-nephews, Michael (Cecilee), Matthew and Mark Oste, Andrew (Ashley) and Steven Synyshyn, Kevin Kwasny and great-niece, Melissa Kwasny; great-great-nieces and nephew, Maesen, Cadence and Kegan; brother-in-law, Fred Oste. She will also be remembered by her late husband, Leslie's family, son Wilfred J. Ham (Sheila) of Ottawa; their children, Alan, Barbara and Carol; daughter, Shirley White (Derril) of Regina and son, Jeff. Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Leslie (1986); parents, Harry (1965) and Margaret (1987); sister, Mae Oste (1995). Virginia was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. She belonged to the Canadian Catholic Youth League in her younger years. She also was a member of the Business and Professional section of the UCWLC and the St. Nicholas UCWLC for over 40 years, the Church choir and its Senior's Club. Virginia attended Faraday School and Isaac Newton School. She worked at Aronovitch Leipsic Ins., Dawson Richardson Publications/Inland Broadcasting and Mackie Travel. She traveled to Europe, Japan and Thailand. Virginia and Les also spent many winters in Hawaii and San Diego. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 2 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. with a Basilian Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made to the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church or a charity of one's choice. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of 5th Floor, Unit 4 SOGH for their care, kindness and consideration given to Virginia and her family.
