IDA MARGOLIS (published on February 28, 2009)

IDA MARGOLIS Ida Margolis passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the age of 97 years. She was the beloved wife of Max, who predeceased her in October 1992. She leaves to mourn her children; Gail and Ted Hechter, Rachel and Gary Margolis, Rita and Sheldon Margolis. Her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren who are saddened by her loss include; Cheryl Hechter and Doron Raphaeli (Mor and Eden), Shelley Margolis, Penny and Ben Hechter, Joel Hechter and fiancée Yasamine Jacobs, Tara and Aaron Calvo (Emma), Simone and Leon Pincovich, Jonathan Margolis and Joshua Margolis. Her sister Rebecca Borts, cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews will miss her. Also mourning her passing is her synagogue family, and the legions of friends and acquaintances with which she maintained a strong bond. A life well lived has been described as having been able to; laugh often, win the respect of others, make another's life easier, have the love of family and children, retain the loyalty of others, keep learning throughout your life, be non judgmental, offer your wisdom when you see it is needed, and make music with what you have left. Her life was certainly very well lived. And the world is a better place for having had her in it. Those whose lives she touched were enriched for having a relationship with her. She will be remembered as a woman of great strength, generosity, goodness and love. Her life was a blessing to all who came in contact with her. May the memory of her life be one that gives joy and peace to all who knew her. The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to Lynne Fineman, Drake Medox and all those fine, helping angels, who cared for and about her well being over the years, which allowed her to remain in her own home. The medical and nursing staff on the south 5 unit at the Victoria Hospital have our sincere thanks for the respect, compassion and professionalism they showed her in her last weeks. Should you wish to recognize the passing of Mrs. Margolis, a donation to the Jewish Foundation, (Ida and Max Margolis Endowment Fund), the Canadian Museum of Human Rights or to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
