| ERNEST (ED) HOWES Peacefully, at home on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the age of 78 years, Ed passed away. Ed will be sadly missed by his partner Joan Whyte; son Raymond (Diane); daughter Susan (Jerry); grandchildren, Marissa, Erin, Richard (Ashley), Heather (Ryan), Mitchel; great-grandchildren, Emily and Owen; as well as siblings, Vera (Ken), Roy (Margaret) in the UK. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, in 2003; and sister Joyce (Phil) in 2006. Dad was born in London, England on January 17, 1931 and served in the British Army (R.E.M.E) in Korea. Arriving in Canada in 1957, he settled in Winnipeg where he worked for TCA (Air Canada). Retiring in 1995, Dad filled his time reading, travelling, golfing and caring for Dot. On her passing, he devoted his time to improving his golf and along the way he met a wonderful lady in Joan. With a heart of gold and a personality that would light up a room, Dad's passing has left many hearts heavy with sorrow. A celebration of Dad's life will be held in the ANAF Assiniboia #283 located at 3584 Portage Avenue on Friday, March 6 at 1:00 p.m. Special thanks to Palliative Care nurses, Chris, Jay, Mariette and Louise. Thanks, as well, to Carlos and the many home care professionals who assisted us during Dad's brief time at home.
