ALLEN HARRY BAYKO (published on March 06, 2009)

ALLEN HARRY BAYKO It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our husband, brother, father and Gido, Allen Harry Bayko on March 3, 2009 at the age of 71 years. He was predeceased by his father Harry Bayko; mother Anne Lewicky, and nephew Gregory Bayko. Allen is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years Stella; daughters, Janice Bradley (Rob), Kim Onagi (Ken) and grandchildren, Brooklyn, Alana, Kendra, Ava and Vincent. He is also survived by step-father Ed Lewicky; brother Dennis Bayko (Lorraine) and sister Beverley Tabor, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends. Allen was born June 19, 1937 in Winnipeg, MB. He grew up in Fork River and Dauphin and subsequently returned to Winnipeg. Al worked for Midwest Diamond Drilling for 42 years until his retirement in 1999. Dad's interest in Thoroughbred Horse Racing was a passion for many years, and he made many friends throughout the years. He also loved hunting, fishing, camping and was a great supporter of his nephews Gary and Greg Bayko playing hockey as they grew up. While at home Dad enjoyed smoking meat in his wood chip smoker in the backyard. The scent of smoked jerky could be detected throughout all of the Westwood area. During the last few years Dad enjoyed playing cards with his grandchildren and watching the younger ones play and run around. Dad's generosity and sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him. Special thanks to Dr. Robin McClure and the staff of 3 East at Riverview. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Wpg., MB, R3C 2B7. Service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 3:00 p.m., with reception to follow. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, He put his arms around you And said, Come unto Me Chapel Lawn 885-9715
