EVELYN VALERIA BODNER (published on March 07, 2009)

EVELYN VALERIA BODNER September 20, 1917 - March 4, 2009 Mom passed away peacefully at the Notre Dame Foyer on Wednesday, March 4. She will be remembered by her brother Stan (Enid) Triggs, sons Brian (Ila), Bill (Rina), and daughters Jenny (Ray) Wiebe and Frances (D'Arcy) Glover. Seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren will also remember mom. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, brother Nelson and wife Shirley Triggs, sister Marie at infancy, and her parents Charles and Jennie Triggs. Mom stayed at home raising her four children until they were all in school at which time she started a work career at the Treherne Hospital. She really enjoyed her years at the hospital and referred to them as the best years of her life. She mentioned that point on many occasions. She was also involved with the Treherne Figure Skating Club, United Church Choir, and the Ladies Auxiliary. During her later years, she made many trips to Thunder Bay to help look after Frances' two boys. She was the best babysitter and despite her arthritis, many hours were spent tobogganing with them down the driveway hill while trying to avoid the trees. Some of her happiest times were also spent around the kitchen table when all the family could be home at Treherne. Christmas was special as she was always reminded that her turkey dressing was the best, hands down. Following Dad's passing Mom moved to the Notre Dame Foyer, where she spent her last few years. The family is very grateful for the kindness and compassionate care she received while she was there. Cremation has taken place and a family memorial will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the Notre Dame Palliative Care. Arrangements entrusted to: Budz Funeral Service Ltd. Holland, MB 204-526-2380
