GERALDINE PATRICIA MCCOMBS (published on April 04, 2009)

GERALDINE PATRICIA MCCOMBS Peacefully on March 31, 2009 at the age of 68, Geraldine Patricia McCombs (nee McClarty), passed away from complications of Alzheimer's in Kelowna, BC. Gerri is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Doug McCombs; son Jason (Theresa) McCombs; daughter Jodi (Rob) Nazer; grandchildren, Brooke, Blake, Madison and Mackenzie will miss their Mom and Grandma whom loved them all unconditionally. Also left behind, whom Gerri loved dearly, brother Larry (Jackie) McClarty; sister-in-law Kerry (Brian) Enns; mother-in-law Marge McCombs and nieces and nephews whom all knew Auntie Gerri was full of fun. Gerry worked many years as a cashier, starting at Eaton's and continuing on to Dominion Stores. Her last stop as a cashier was at Safeway, Polo Park, where she was the best cashier Safeway ever had. Live, Love, Laugh was Gerri's motto. Although Gerri was not with us long enough she lived her life to the fullest. Many friends will remember Gerri for her kindness and generosity towards others. Dedicated to contributing to the making of wheelchairs, Gerri collected tabs from various cans. Friends and family knew her as the Tab Lady . Through her consistent collecting over the years she has helped many people. Gerri also loved all animals, especially granddog Jake who, in his dog wisdom, helped her with this terrible disease and helped us see her smile. Gerry was born on St. Patrick's Day and was proud of her Irish heritage. She was an amazing cook, avid reader, but most of all, the best dancer Legion #9 ever saw. Gerri, one day we will dance again , love Dougie. Mom and Grandma, you will be forever loved and remembered , love your children. May the road rise to meet you May the wind be always at your back May the sun shine warm upon your face And the rains fall soft upon your fields And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand. Thank you to Windsor Manor Care Home in Kelowna, BC for the excellent care and compassion for both Gerri and her loved ones. Special thanks to Linda, Heather, Natasha, Peter, Shelly and Marlene. Also friends Janice and Lloyd whom have been very supportive in our time of need. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of BC, 865 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 6P6.
