EILENE LOUISE DONILY (published on April 09, 2009)
EILENE LOUISE DONILY (nee MCTAGGART) 1933 - 2009 It is with great sadness, for the family, that Eilene passed away on April 5, 2009 at the age of 75 after a long illness. She is predeceased by her father James McTaggart (1963), and mother Anna Blom in 1997. Left to cherish her memory is her dear husband Stanley; twin sister Mary Edwards (North Battleford); daughters, Jo-Ellen Foley (Winnipeg), Carol Posie (Barrie, Ontario), Karen Werestiuk (Jerry) of Winnipeg, Lorraine Morrison (Gene) of Ninette, Manitoba, Lynda Langshaw (Ross) of Barrie, Ontario; grandchildren, Kevin Foley, Angela Mayer (Foley), Devin Posie, Kirk Andrushuk, Caitlin Morrison, Taylor Langshaw, and Bradley Langshaw. Eilene was the most unselfish person one could ever meet. She was considerate, and kind and always helping others. She made friends wherever she went and those who took time to know her loved her. Her greatest achievement was successfully raising five wonderful daughters. Her love for them was unconditional. Eilene actively pursued life. She went back to high school at 49 to learn typing and office procedures. She obtained her driver's license at 50 and that year applied for and was hired at Grace Hospital at the inquiring desk. Fifteen years later she retired and was so proud when she received her first pension check. Eilene was very active in sports. She was a member at Elmhurst and Larters golf course for many years. She loved down hill skiing and cross country. She was the driving force in keeping a ladies bridge club going for over thirty years, and just about every friend has one of her cross stitch pictures or an arts and craft ornament. Eilene will be sadly missed by her family and friends, but will be remembered for her loving ways. The family would like to thank Dr. Pat Harris, Arlene, Holly, Dale, Cathy, Paulette, and the rest of the staff at Grace Hospital for being so kind and caring. Also, we are so grateful to all the palliative care nurses, in particular Mariette and Louise, who helped us through this difficult period. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grace Cancer Care Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3M7. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. 885 - 9715 |
