JEAN FUTZ (published on April 11, 2009)

JEAN FUTZ (PERSOAGE) It is with profound sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Jean Futz (Persoage) on Monday, April 6, 2009 at the Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg. Jean leaves to mourn her husband Ed of 11 and one-half years, sons Kirk, Brent (Gail) and Craig (Cecille) and her grandchildren Ryan, Kelly, Trina, Crystal, Kevin, Aaron, Cameron and step-children Doug (Cathe), Brent (Yvette) and Janice (Scott) and grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her sister Mary and numerous nieces and nephews. Brothers Bill, Tony, Pete and Joe, and sister Rose predeceased Jean. Jean was born in Teulon on March 28, 1927 and at the age of 17 she set out on her life adventure by moving to Winnipeg and becoming a bank teller. The office life was never meant for Jean who soon realized her interest and skills were working with people in a sales role. For 42 years Jean proudly represented the realtor profession in Winnipeg, ultimately receiving a long time service award. Many times Jean would proudly say, I've never recommended the purchase of a house that I wouldn't buy for myself. Jean's real estate success was ultimately measured by her countless loyal customers many of whom became friends - and who also recommended Jean to their children and grandchildren. Jean was far more than a real estate professional. She was a tireless supporter of her friends. Jean was there when they needed her. In recent years she delighted in bringing her friends together to go on casino bus tours in the United States and Canada. Jean was predictably lucky during these visits, something she inherited from her late mother Pauline. Above all Jean was devoted to her family. Jean's focus was on her family's love, health and happiness and the occasional victory at the hockey rink. Jean's grandchildren meant the world to her and they knew it. She was always there for them and they found great comfort in that. Jean was also an excellent all around cook with a special skill in the pastry department. Her wedding and Christmas fruitcakes were always in demand. Jean made quite a difference during her 82 years and no doubt she will strive to stay busy in whatever the future holds for her as she did on earth. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (www.heartandstroke.ca) Memorial service will be held at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive on Friday April 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
