KEITH BEARD (published on April 11, 2009)

KEITH BEARD Keith passed away peacefully Friday, March 27, 2009 at the Victoria General Hospital. He joined the light of his life, Irene, who predeceased him in 2006. Keith was born in Cinderford, England immigrating to Canada with his wife Irene and daughters in 1957. Family was the focus of his life and many wonderful memories were made camping across Canada, the cabin at Dorothy Lake and every day. He worked in the Winnipeg School Division as a teacher, in Special Ed, Vice Principal and Principal. He loved to watch his students achieve their potential and loved to catch up with them in later years. His other passions were Sports, actively as a young man, as spectator of many and Officiating Track and Field for over 50 years at many major events and for this he was honoured with a place in Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 2002; globetrotting with Irene by land and sea; volunteering at the Victoria Hospital in the gift shop and with Lifeline; a good book and visits with good friends. Dad was our foundation and showed us that you can have a full rich life even with health limitations. Memories will be cherished by daughters Judith Elizabeth Chan (Don), Barbara Anderson (Jim); grandchildren Treena (Shaun), Marc (Marcia) and Dean; great-grandchildren Tristan, Braeden, Izabella, Kaidyn and Allysa (16 days) and many relatives and friends in England and Canada. If they so wish in lieu of flowers friends may make a donation to the Irene and Keith Beard Endowment Fund at the Victoria General Hospital. The family would like to give special thanks to Geoff and Lynda; to Dr. Czarnecki for the quality he added to Dad's last four years; the longtime Home Care workers and Dad's many friends for their support calls and visits over the years. A service to Celebrate Dad's life will be held on JUNE 10, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at St Paul's Anglican Church, 830 Point Road, Fort Garry. Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength Isaiah 26.4
