KRISTVEIG (LILLIAN) HARRIS (published on April 18, 2009)



KRISTVEIG (LILLIAN) HARRIS (nee BACKMAN) June 16, 1927 - April 15, 2009 Peacefully, on April 15, 2009 Lil passed away at the Grace Hospital surrounded by the love of her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years William and her grandson Kevin Harris. Lil will be forever loved by sons, Lloyd (Beverly), Gordon (Heather); daughters, Donna McDonald, Beverly (Abe) Fuhl, Dianne (Karl) Sproll, Elaine (Kenneth) Anderson, and Judy (Ben) McDonald; grandchildren, Keith, Karen, Kerry, Lauren, Rodney, Kristine, Cheryl, Caroline, Karl Jr., Erik, and Ingrid; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Ryan, and Evan. She will also be missed by her siblings, Allen (Ivy), and Helga Bartholomew. Lil will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was born in Lundar and grew up on the family farm in Oak Point. Lil was married to William on August 2, 1947 and they moved to Winnipeg to raise their family. She enjoyed dancing, baking, gardening, crafts and the whist club at the St. James legion. She was very proud of and practiced her Icelandic heritage. Lil loved spending time with her family; she was a devoted, caring, hardworking mother - who always referred to her children as her kids - grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the centre of her family. The family could always rely on her. You are forever in our hearts. We love you. You will be deeply missed. A Funeral service will be held on Monday April 20, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with an interment and reception to follow. Pallbearers will be her cherished grandsons, Keith Harris, Rodney McDonald, Karl Sproll Jr., Erik Sproll, Mike Rolsky and Gord Marinowski. In lieu of flowers donations in Lil's name may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6 or the charity of choice. Chapel Lawn 885 - 9715
