CARYL PATSY MOCK (published on April 18, 2009)

CARYL PATSY MOCK (nee ONOFREYO) July 16, 1954 - April 11, 2009 Peacefully, as the sun rose on Saturday, April 11, 2009, Caryl Mock lost her difficult but mercifully short battle with ovarian cancer. Her last days were spent with those she loved most, reminiscing and saying goodbye. Caryl was beautiful in every way. Vivacious and funny, passionate and determined, warm and generous - she touched lives in ways far greater than she could ever know. Her infectious spirit was contagious and everyone who knew her was richer for the experience. Raised in Rivercrest, Caryl attended West Kildonan Collegiate and the University of Manitoba. She was employed at the Worker's Compensation Board and PSI World Seminars before joining the Province of Manitoba where she was a Senior Policy Analyst. As much as she enjoyed her career and loved her co-workers, her heart was at her home. Caryl was a gifted artist who designed amazing stained glass work, a passionate gardener who grew breathtaking flower beds, and an exceptional cook and hostess. She loved travel, was a huge SciFi fan and enjoyed nothing more than cocooning with a good book and a Manhattan. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Harv Mock, son Tim Francis, daughter-in-law Melissa and two precious granddaughters Brooke and Lyla. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Fanny Mock and sisters-in-law Dyan Lamirande, Elayne Mock and Sally Levy (Clement). She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Germaine Onofreyo. While Caryl's illness claimed her remarkably quickly, the care she received throughout her journey was exceptional and should be acknowledged. Our family would like to thank Drs. Lotocki, Dean, Krepart and Popowich, CancerCare Manitoba Nurse Darlene Roberge and the compassionate staff at the Women's Hospital and Riverview Health Centre for their commitment to Caryl's comfort and peace. However, our deepest gratitude goes to Maureen Tabak, Caryl's closest friend, for her unconditional care and support, and to Monique Kisil for her friendship and giving. Cremation has taken place, however a Celebration of Caryl's life is currently being planned and an announcement about that will be forthcoming. Until then, those wishing to do so can honour Caryl's memory with a contribution to CancerCare Manitoba or the Winnipeg Humane Society. We love you Caryl. Thank you for everything.
