JOSEFINA RAFAEL VASQUEZ (published on April 22, 2009)



JOSEFINA RAFAEL VASQUEZ Josefina Rafael Vasquez, of Winnipeg, MB, after a well fought battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully, with her family at her side on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009, at the age of 69, at Crossroads Hospice, Port Moody, BC. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 42 years, Esmeraldo, her children Carlito (Jacquie), Roselle (Rhick); as well as her cherished grandchildren Jasmine, Jaden, Soleena, and Sasha. In the Philippines she leaves to mourn her sisters Leticia Camisin and Felicita Morales along with their families. Josefina was predeceased by her three day old child Marianito , her parents Leonita and Inocencio Rafael, and her brothers Regaldo and Ricardo, and sister Dely Lontoc. Born in Banalo, Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines on March 19, 1940. Josefina graduated from high school at St. Michael's Institute, Bacoor. She worked in the accounting office at Camp Aguinaldo for 14 years. She married Esmeraldo in 1966 and her family immigrated to Winnipeg in 1974. She worked as a seamstress at Wescott and MWG until she retired in 2004. Josefina was an active member of the Alapan Association of Manitoba. Her favourite pastimes include cooking, singing, walking, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. She touched so many lives in ways far greater than she could ever know. Friends to all, mother to many and everyone who knew her was richer for the experience. She will be missed by many friends and family in Winnipeg and abroad. Lamay will be held on Thursday, April 23 and Friday, April 24 from 6:00 p.m. till 12:00 a.m. (midnight) at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Edward's Roman Catholic Church, 818 Arlington Street. Interment to follow in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank all of the friends and family who visited and extended their love and concern for her during her illness.
