LEO A. J. JACQUES (published on April 22, 2009)

LEO A. J. JACQUES Our Dad passed away peacefully at Foyer Valade on Friday April 17, 2009. Leo was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan in 2001. After he lost Joan he always said I keep looking, but I can't find her. We hope they are together now. Dad was the last of his brothers and sisters and the longest lived at age 92. Leo will be remembered by his son Marty (Helen), daughters Cheryll Wehrle (Bill) and Jennifer Gyles (Geoff) and his grandchildren Kirsten, Matthew, Adam, Sarah, Collin, Jason and Lindsay. After returning from the war and reuniting with his wife and son, Dad started work with the City of St. Boniface. He moved on to Metro, then the City of Winnipeg. He enjoyed his time spent working with the Board of Directors for the Assiniboine Credit Union, and Cumis and travelling to their many functions with Mom. It was always family first for Dad. If Joan and his kids were happy, he was happy. He worked hard and planned all of his life so that nothing was left to chance. In later years Dad was content to be with us at family functions just sitting and listening and being a part of the group. He would never be described as a chatterbox! He was just a quiet even tempered, easy to get along with gentleman. His sometimes gruff exterior was a good cover for the softy underneath. We ended up with many dogs joining us because of a carefully concealed like for them. We will think of him whenever Blue Lake is mentioned, or fishing, or Waverley Street, or French toast! Our family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the staff of Foyer Valade for the support and kindness they showed Leo and our family during his stay with them. Dad really didn't care for funerals, so as a family we will honour that wish and no service will be held. His ashes will be interred next to Joan at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rest in Peace Dad, we love you, we'll miss you. THOMSON IN THE PARK 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to www.mem.com
