BERNICE DUBANSKI (published on April 22, 2009)

BERNICE DUBANSKI With her husband and children by her side, it is with great sadness that the family of Bernice Dubanski announces her passing on Sunday, April 19, at the age of 74 years. Remaining to forever cherish Bernice's memory are her husband of 52 years Joseph; her daughter Teresa Vopni, (Terry) and their children Stephanie and Jordan; her son Gerry (Kari) and their children Spencer and Sydney; her brother-in-law Ernie Bridges; nephews, Greg, Kevin and Andrew Bridges and their families. She was predeceased by her son John; parents John and Mary Purcha and her identical twin sister Stanis, whom she missed very much. Bernice was born July 15, 1934 and raised in Winnipeg, graduating from St. Mary's Academy. She married her husband Joe on June 16, 1956 and they started a family right away. Her good humour and easygoing style helped immensely as she raised a young family and embraced her husband Joe's many promotions, taking the family across the country from Winnipeg to Edmonton, Vancouver, Montreal, Thunder Bay and finally settling back in Winnipeg. Mom devoted her life to her family and was very caring, giving and compassionate of others. In her younger years, she loved to golf and play bridge. She encouraged and supported the interests of her children and grandchildren and was very proud of them all. Prayers will be held on Thursday, April 23, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Highway. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. also in the Church, with Rev. Fr. Patrick A. Morand presiding.
