JODY NICHOLE (JEFFREY) GOERTZEN (published on April 25, 2009)

JODY NICHOLE (JEFFREY) GOERTZEN August 19, 1978 April 22, 2009 On April 22, 2009 at the St. Boniface Hospital with her family by her side, Jody, age 30, went on to be with her Lord and Saviour. Jody leaves behind to cherish her memory, her 4 year old daughter Thera, mother Joanne Janzen, step-father Albert Rempel, father John Goertzen, sister Tracy Jeffrey, brothers Michel Mignon (Zuzia), Michael Goertzen (Krissi), Grandparents Margaret Groening, Mary and Isaac Goertzen and many, many Aunts and Uncles, Cousins and Friends. Jody's spirit has deeply touched the lives of everyone she ever came in contact with. Her love for life showed in everything she touched. Jody always saw the best in everyone and could always find the beauty in the simplest of things. Since birth Jody has struggled with a very serious congenital heart condition, which did not keep her from living life to the fullest right until the very last minute - Jody always said it won't be heart surgery that takes me, when I go I will be having the time of my life and that is exactly how she spent her last minutes. Jody has left for her family her most precious gift being her daughter Thera whom she always called mini me - Jody knew that Thera would be loved greatly and well taken care of and Jody's memory will be kept alive for Thera through her family and friends. Jody was a wonderful Mother who took the time to teach Thera what she needed to learn. Jody and Thera attended St. Lukes Zion Church together, this was a part of life which was very important to Jody that Thera be brought up in Christ and know and love God as she did. Jody was born on August 19, 1978 in Winkler, Manitoba, in 1979 the family moved to Winnipeg, MB where Jody was able to be closer to the St. Boniface Hospital in case she needed fast medical attention. Jody graduated high school in 1999 with an academic and photography diploma from Tec Voc High School. Taking pictures and gardening were Jody's passion as well as the volunteer work she did for the Circle Of Hearts Group through the Variety Heart Center - Jody loved each and every one of her Heart Hero's' and kept current in their lives. Jody knew what they were going through and tried hard to pass on her strength and courage to each and every one of them. Jody gave many of their parents hope for their child's future and showed them that you can indeed lead a normal life even when faced with challenges. The family wishes to extend a very special Thank You' to Pastor Lynne Hutchison for her prayers and the support she gave to Jody and continues to give to Thera and the entire family during this difficult time and to the entire Medical Team who have deeply cared for Jody throughout her 30 years: St. Boniface Hospital-ACF Pediatrics and Cardiology - Winnipeg, MB, Hospital for Sick Children-Toronto, ON, St. Boniface Hospital-Pacemaker Clinic-Winnipeg, MB, University of Alberta Hospital-Edmonton, AB, HSC-Variety Heart Center, Winnipeg, MB, MTS Center EMS, Winnipeg, MB, HSC CCU, Winnipeg, MB and as well, all the prayers and support expressed by Jody's many friends and friends and co-workers of the entire family. Celebration of Life will be held Monday, April 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St.Luke's Zion Lutheran Church, 2903 McPhillips Street.
