ALBERTO M. SAMSON (published on April 29, 2009)



ALBERTO M. SAMSON It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dearest father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather on Friday April 24, 2009 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 85. Alberto (Tatay Berto) will be lovingly remembered and forever cherished by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; Bona Fidelis (Jose), Roberto (Gigi), daughter in-law Nita, Cesar (Adele) of the Philippines; Nila Martinez, children Marlyn (James) and Monalyn (Jim) and great-grand-daughter Jaimalyn of Winnipeg, Manitoba; and Carina (Sammy Caneda) and grandchildren Naomi and Noah of Calgary, Alberta. Also left to cherish his memory are his sisters and brother, along with their families Gregoria, Crispina, Justina, Victorina and Maura (Alfonso) of the Philippines; Pablo (Linda) nieces Anna Liza (Don) and Neil and Mia; and Annalyn and Timothy, Tiffany, Thomas and Justin of Winnipeg, Manitoba. His relatives of Winnipeg, Manitoba; Manuelita Martinez, Magdalena (Ely) and children, Rebecca (Ben) and son, Vangie (Ricardo) and children, and Susan; Genoveva, Marissa (Josel) and son, Ben (Virgie) and family, Precy (Tony) and family. Flor Martinez and family of Toronto, Ontario and numerous family and friends in the Philippines, Canada, and the United States. He was predeceased by his wife Iluminada, parents Juan and Felisa Samson, his son Rene Bernabe, and son-in-law Lito Martinez. The family wishes to express our deepest and most sincere thanks to the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedics and the staff of Health Science Centre Adult Emergency Department. Viewing and prayer service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. on Friday May 1, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. till 12:00 midnight. Rev. Msgr. Louis McCloskey presiding at prayers. Mass of the resurrection will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave. presided by Fr. Geoffrey Angeles. At Tatay's Berto's request cremation will take place after the funeral. Pallbearers will be Don Cymbalisty, Ben Martinez, Ely Aliasut, Jimmy Tu, Ricardo Tomas, Benji Almagro.
