ERNEST MANVEILER (published on April 29, 2009)

ERNEST MANVEILER On Sunday evening April 26, 2009, just short of his 91st birthday Dad passed away peacefully with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his brothers Herman and Arnold, his twin brother Walter and his son Kerry. He leaves to mourn his wife of 64 years Hazel, his sister Helga Davis, sons David (Pat), Bill (Madeleine), Adam, daughter Maureen Rankin (Lyle) and all of his grandchildren: Carrie, Stephen, Jon, Kelly, Michael, Mitchel and Karlee. Dad served his country in the Second World War. He volunteered in his home town of Southey, Saskatchewan. During his tour he served in France, Italy, Africa and Belgium. It was during his training in England that he met and fell in love with his lifelong partner, Hazel. Dad's favourite pastimes were fishing, wood work in his little workshop and just soaking up the sun. He loved to play crib with any willing partner. His greatest pleasure was to be surrounded by his family and he was especially proud of all of them and their accomplishments. At Dad's request there will be no funeral service. A private family remembrance is being planned and will be communicated at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
