KRISTEN ASHLEY HIMPE (published on May 02, 2009)

KRISTEN ASHLEY HIMPE Suddenly on April 22, 2009 Kristen Ashley Himpe passed away at the age of 23. Kristen was born on Wednesday, July 31, 1985 in Dauphin MB. She was a happy healthy baby with lots of dark brown hair, beautiful big brown eyes, a strong will and independent spirit. In October 1988 her baby brother was born and she got her first student. They along with friends would spend hours playing schoolKristen was always the teacher. She attended Barker School during her elementary school years and received numerous certificates and awards. While attending Grade Eight at Mackenzie Middle School she was thrilled to be selected to Provincial Honour Band. It was during these school years that she met and made many of her lifelong friends, the people she shared everything with, the people who shared in her good times and helped her through the challenging times. Upon graduating from the DRCSS in June 2003 Kristen moved to Winnipeg and attended the University of Winnipeg to pursue her life long dream of becoming a teacher. As part of her university courses she student taught throughout the city and met and became friends with many co-workers and fellow student teachers. She graduated in June 2008 with a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Science Degree. She moved back to Dauphin and began teaching at Barker School in September 2008. It was surprising to teach at the school she attended as a young child, to consider former teachers family friends' co-workers but she loved every second and made many new friends among the staff. Kristen taught Grade 5 from September to December and Grade 1 from January to April. Not a day passed by where she didn't share a story about her studentsshe loved her job and was so proud of her kids Besides teaching, Kristen was learning to enjoy living back in Dauphin, snowmobiling in the winter, driving a standard, the charm of rural life and cooking up a storm. She was an excellent cook and could make anything from pizza to perogies or sushi to Beef Wellington. There was nothing more that she loved then preparing a meal for her family and just hanging out; laughing and being silly with the Aunties and enjoying every minute of being teased by her brother and cousins. She loved taking pictures and never went anywhere without a camera; she documented everything from family gatherings and nights out with the girls to her pet's antics and home renovations. She loved putting her pictures and treasures into scrapbooks and has left behind beautiful reminders of the joy she brought to us all. Left to cherish fond memories are her parents Wayne and Gail Himpe of Dauphin MB, brother Devin Himpe and girlfriend Robyn Allard of Winnipeg, MB, boyfriend Vince Morton of Ochre River, MB, aunts, Marlene and husband Ken Hafenbrak of Fork River, MB, Carol and husband Allan Roos of Dauphin, MB, Lorraine and husband Howard Hrehirchuk of Saskatoon, SK, cousins, Wendy and husband Danny Kramer of Winnipeg, MB, Ryan and wife Amanda and children Dylan and Carter Hafenbrak of Winnipeg, MB, Gary Hafenbrak of Wainwright, AB, Travis and wife Gail and children Brayden and Austyn Roos of Dauphin, MB, Terran and son Koalton Roos of Dauphin, MB, Brent and wife Lori and children Sara and Seth of Dauphin, MB, Derrick Hrehirchuk of Saskatoon, SK, Rhonda and husband Dave and children Jesse and Jade Davis of Calgary, AB, and numerous friends, extended family, co-workers and students.
