PHYLLIS HELEN LANGVER (published on May 02, 2009)

PHYLLIS HELEN LANGVER (nee ZUBRESKY) In the early morning of April 30, 2009, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, Mom peacefully, with her family at her side, succumbed to her illness, just one day short of her 55th wedding anniversary. Mom was predeceased by her Baba and Gido, Anne and Peter Zubresky, her mother Mary Misko (Joseph). She is survived by her husband Walter; children Elloise (Raymond), Barbara (Marcel), Shirley (Gerald), Walter (Susanne), Rick, Valerie (Wayne) and Tim; grandchildren Tracy (Dave), Lori (Mike), Crystal, Kari, Walter, Sarah, Tyler, Landon, Ashley, Brady and Conner; great-grandchildren Matthew, Joshua, Daniel, Kaitlyn and Alana; sisters Delores (Siggi), Sandra (Bill) and brothers Arnold (Donna) and Wayne. Mom was born on June 14, 1937 in Dauphin, MB. She was raised in Gilbert Plains and Carmen, MB, by her Baba and Gido. She often shared with us fond memories of this time including spending many hours with Gido in his shoe repair shop. Mom met Dad, her soul mate in 1953. They were married the following year on May 1, 1954. In the early years of their marriage, Mom being a soldier's bride was stationed in Germany for three years where she had the opportunity to see many parts of Europe. Because of that opportunity, Mom developed a passion for traveling. She then shared that interest with her family taking us on many holidays and camping trips throughout the years. Some of her fondest being her numerous trips to Las Vegas and her most recent cruise vacations in the Caribbean and Mexico. Mom enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino where one of her happiest times there was winning a bingo jackpot. By far the most enjoyment came from her children and grandchildren. You would often hear mom saying, Before anything my kids come first. Mom was a hard working woman who raised seven children while working along with Dad running the family business. There are no appropriate words or expressions of grief or sadness for the pain and emptiness that we as her family feel. Mom we love you and miss you so much, you will live in our hearts forever. A Mom like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence. Until we meet again. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with a reception to follow. Flowers gratefully declined, donations can be made in Mom's name to The Challenge For Life Cancer Walk ( Lori Shields is walking in her memory. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
