ALMA JANE HADFIELD (published on May 02, 2009)

ALMA JANE HADFIELD Peacefully, on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, Alma passed away at Lion's Personal Care Centre. Alma celebrated her 97th birthday on April 3, 2009. Alma was born in Veregin, SK. She was predeceased by her husband Harold, daughters-in-law, June and Loren, grandchildren, Darryl and Tammie as well as numerous family members throughout Canada and the United States. She is survived by three sons, Ron (Toni), Wayne (Lois) and Dale (Susan) and her grandchildren, Kelly, Jennifer, Rebecca, Jeffrey, Curtis and Nicole as well as great-grandchildren, Carlie, Trevor, Autumn, Jesse, Jolene, Catlin, and Jacob. At three years of age Alma was moved to Morris, MB where she was raised with the Kastner family. Alma went to work in Winnipeg where she met and married Harold Hadfield. They raised their family in St. James. Although visually impaired at an early age, she overcame many difficult challenges, and throughout her life always laboured tirelessly for her family. Among her many gifts was her ability to teach music. She taught in Winnipeg for Deeley's Accordion Studios, and had her own studios in Steinbach and Lac du Bonnet, where she taught accordion, organ, piano, and guitar. She was proud of each student's achievements, and could name each and every one by name right up to her last days, including their skill levels. She was equally proud of her family's achievements and shared and supported them in their progress in education and their working careers. Through-out her life she was steadfast in her faith. Her life was governed by her understanding of Christian principles, which she imparted to her family. The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of Lion's Manor for the loving care that was provided during her residency there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160 - 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9 or a charity of your choice. At Alma's request, cremation has taken place. Following the private family interment of ashes, a celebration of Alma's life will be held at St. Bartholomew Anglican Church, 880 Autumnwood Drive on Wednesday May 6, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Donna Joy officiating. NEIL BARDAL INC. 204-949-2200 nbardal.mb.ca
