MARGARET SYLVIA COUVIER (published on May 16, 2009)

MARGARET SYLVIA COUVIER Margaret Sylvia Couvier passed away peacefully on May 13, 2009 at the Souris Personal Care Home at the age of 83 years. Sylvia was born in Builth Wells, Wales, May 3, 1926. She graduated secondary school in Builth and on June 7, 1944 married Stewart Couvier. She immigrated to Canada in 1945 and Goodlands, Manitoba was her first home. Sylvia and Stew then moved to Deloraine, Elgin and finally Souris. Sylvia was a stay at home mom raising three boys. She was involved in the Anglican Church as a choir member and as a Sunday school teacher and The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Sylvia liked to watch her boys play sports. She also enjoyed to read, sing and embroider. Sylvia is survived by her sons Dean (Donna) of Stonewall, Robin (Lynda) of Miniota and Terry (Connie) of Winnipeg, as well as seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She has a sister Iris and brother-in-law in Wales as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Wales and England. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Stewart, her parents, a brother and sister-in-law, and a great-granddaughter. Cremation has taken place. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Souris and Glenwood Cemetery, Souris, Manitoba with Rev. Mark Murray officiating on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. A time of refreshments and fellowship will be held at the Legion Club Room following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Souris Personal Care Home Sunroom Fund c/o A.R.H.A. Box 10 Souris, Manitoba R0K 2C0, or the Alzheimer's Society or to a charity of your choice. Thank you to Dr. Cram and the wonderful staff of the Souris Personal Care Home and Souris Hospital who have tended to Mom over the years. Kowalchuk's Funeral Home, Souris, in care of arrangements.
