APRIL MARY MAXWELL (published on May 16, 2009)

APRIL MARY MAXWELL (nee McBETH) April Maxwell passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Grace Hospital. She was predeceased by her father, Peter James McBeth, in 1982 and her mother, Katherine Dora ( Dody ) McBeth in 1997. April is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Donald ( Max ) Maxwell; her brother Bruce McBeth (Pat); her nephew Paul McBeth (Jenn) and grandniece Chloe of Brandon; her niece Cheryl Whalen (Al); and grandnephew Ethan of Winnipeg. She will be sadly missed by many loving and caring relatives, neighbours and friends near and far. Born on October 7, 1941, April spent most of her life as a resident of St. James. She was proud to be a Jimmie having graduated from St. James Collegiate. Most of her working career was with the Manitoba Teachers Society before joining Max in retirement. Early on, April and Don spent many enjoyable years with the Norquay 10 pin Bowling League. They spent many memorable vacations with very good friends, Garry and Marlene Porteous of Elie, Manitoba, travelling to Newfoundland and Vancouver Island and many places in between, including a southern sojourn to Elvis' Graceland. They enjoyed their camper trailer days at both Ashern, Manitoba and at Spruce Sands, Arnes, Manitoba. April and Don's final years of travel were a decade of annual winter breaks in Honolulu, Hawaii. April passed from us in peace and we wish to express heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and medical staff at Grace Hospital. Many thanks, as well, to family physician, Dr. Dawn McTaggart and to the Respiratory Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service for April will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for consideration of a donation to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, 3062 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg R3K 0Y1. Chapel Lawn 885 - 9715
