ANNA PATRICIA WARRINGTON (published on May 16, 2009)

ANNA PATRICIA WARRINGTON Anna Patricia Warrington (née Goff) died on May 9, 2009 at the age of 94 at the Lady Minto Hospital in Ganges, Salt Spring Island. She was born in 1915 in Selkirk, Manitoba to Mary and William Vince Barnard Goff. Anna worked at a variety of jobs: restaurant work at Lockport and Keewatin; a supervisor of the Jewish Orphanage in Winnipeg; coordinator for a travelling theatre group, and supervisor at the Manitoba Home for Girls in Winnipeg from 1954-1966. She and her husband, Tom Warrington, moved to Courtenay, BC in 1967, and in 1974 retired on Salt Spring Island. Anna participated in many community activities: Seniors Group, and the Seniors Peer Counselling Group (serving on their Board of Directors); the IODE where she was secretary of the local chapter for some time, the reading program at the Elementary school, the Music and Munch series, theatre outings, bowling, bridge and mah jong. Anna was predeceased by her husband in 1994 and by four siblings, Dorothy Way of High River, Alberta, Edith Sinclair of Selkirk, Manitoba, Barney Goff of Comox, BC and Haig Goff of Lockport, Manitoba. She is survived by her sister, Vivian, and brother-in-law, Bob Campbell (Ottawa) and by 13 nieces and nephews, Barbara and Linda Way; Lynne, Louise and Ralph Sinclair; Karen, Dennis, Brenda and Vince Goff; Ken and Cheryl Goff, Neil and Greg Campbell; and their families. She will be remembered by her family, her friends and her community for her positive spirit, her lively sense of humour, her individuality, and her eagerness to take on new adventures, even sailing at age 80. She took great joy in her family connections and became a rich source of family history.
