ANNIE ISABEL CHESTER (published on May 16, 2009)

ANNIE ISABEL CHESTER (HENRY) 1911 - 2009 It is with great sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved mother, Annie Isabel Chester (Annabel) nee Calderwood on May 15, 2009. She was born on June 1, 1911 in Ballymoney, North Ireland. Mom came to Canada in 1929 at the age of 17 and later married David Hunter Henry who predeceased her in 1974. She married Leslie Chester in 1981 who predeceased her in 1994. She is survived by her four children, Betty Cassac of Miami, FL; Sally Davie (Walter) of Winnipeg, MB; Norm Henry of Okotoks, AB; Jack Henry (Carol) of Langley, BC and beloved step-daughter Janet Miller of Winnipeg, MB. She will be sadly missed by her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mum was a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church since 1974 but in past years she attended Tabor Baptist Church until she was no longer able to do so. Mum's Christian faith was very evident and it was a priority of hers to read her bible every day and as a result, she read it completely every year. A favourite bible verse of hers was John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Mum was a loving example to all her children and never lost her Irish wit. A memorial service will be held at Tabor Baptist Church, 710 Madeline Street in Transcona on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend R. Giesbrecht will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverview Health Centre or African Medical Missions in care of Tabor Baptist Church, 710 Madeline St., Transcona in Winnipeg, MB. R2C 2S7. The family would like to thank the staff of Riverview Health Centre for the wonderful care they provide for our mother.
