DIANE WARMS (published on May 16, 2009)

DIANE WARMS 1957 - 2009 It is with great sadness, the family announces the passing of Diane Warms. Diane passed away on May 1, after an intensive and courageous battle with a severe infection. Diane was an intelligent, passionate and caring woman who was deeply loved by her family and friends. Diane grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She loved the family cottage at Falcon Lake and spent many happy summers there. She was an outstanding student who obtained degrees in sociology, social work and eventually a Masters degree in social work. In the early 1980s she moved to Alberta. Diane worked as a social worker for 25 years and made valuable contributions in the areas of working with people with disabilities, family violence and most recently in developing social policy for the City of Edmonton. Diane's deepest love and passion however remained with her family. Her love for her children Ben and Anna and her husband Peter was limitless. She loved unconditionally and created a home environment that was always peaceful, supportive and respectful. She often shared that she loved her family to the moon and back . Diane had a deep love for nature. She was most happy when she was outdoors with Peter, Ben and Anna. Together they had many wonderful canoe, hiking and camping adventures. Diane was also a bird lover. She spent many hours looking out the back window of her home admiring and appreciating the birds that came to feed at her feeding stations. Diane's parents Bernice and Walter Warms survive her death and are devastated by the loss of their beautiful daughter. She will be deeply missed by her sister Karen McGeary, her husband Hugh and their three children Whitney, Carson and Kaitlin. She will forever be in the thoughts of her Uncle Ted and Aunt Luba Bangart, their son Jim and his wife Amelia. Diane's family would like to thank the many friends who have been so supportive over the last month. Thank you as well to the excellent medical support she received from the staff in the Intensive Care Unit at the University Hospital. A celebration of Diane's life was held May 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Maria Goretti Community Centre, 11050-95 St. in Edmonton.
