BRETT ROWIN PILON (published on May 19, 2009)

BRETT ROWIN PILON Brett Rowin Pilon was granted his angel wings on Wednesday, May 13th, 2009 at the Children's Hospital at the age of five years. Known and loved by so many as Brettie , Brettster , Little Buddy and Monkey , Brett was a beautiful boy full of life, laughter and love. Physically, Brett struggled with a serious blood vessel condition, one that has now taken him from us. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Brett had touched in some small way, throughout his short, yet very memorable life. Although Brett's condition presented him with challenges, he possessed strength, perseverance, and the ability to overcome physical challenges. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He enjoyed golfing, playing Wii and cars and trucks galore. He loved the color blue, playing with his sister Brianne, his friends and his family with such joy and contentment. He spent the summers camping with his family, going for walks and bike rides, sitting by the campfire, roasting hot dogs and often falling peacefully to sleep in his lawn chair. All those who had the honour of knowing Brett knew how deep he touched your heart. With Brett's passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Through his life, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be his parents. We are so thankful we had time with Brett and we will hold dear the memory of his spirit forever. Brett is survived by his loving parents, Shannon and Shawn Pilon, sister Brianne Pilon; grandparents Ed and Jackie Friesen and Margaret Pilon; Great-Grandmothers Claudia and Eva and so many Uncles, Aunts, and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandfather Roland Pilon. A service to celebrate Brett's life will be held Thursday May 21, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, with Pastor Roger Thiessen, presider. Thanks to every one of Brett's doctors who cared so deeply. Thank you to the nurses in the PICU and Children's Hospital who did more than care for Brett, they loved him and cared for his family too. Brett was blessed with teachers who so easily balanced learning with fun, they too could not help but be affected by his love and loved him in return. Thanks to these teachers and to all who cared for our baby. Please help us celebrate Brett's joyful spirit by wearing blue on the day of his service.
