WILFRIED WURR (published on May 19, 2009)

WILFRIED WURR It is with deep regret that we announce Wilfried's passing on May 16, 2009 at the Victoria General Hospital. His courageous health battles ended peacefully with his family by his side. Wilfried will be lovingly remembered by his two children Frank and Karen. Also left to cherish his memory are his brother Alfred (Beverley), his sister Heidi (Johnny) and his nieces Elke (Kevin) and Doris and nephew (Alfred Jr.). Wilfried is also survived by numerous cousins, aunts and uncles both here in Canada and back in Germany, all of whom will miss his good natured and generous spirit. Wilfried was born in 1936 in Hamburg, Germany where he spent most of his formative years. He immigrated to Canada in December 1956 with great enthusiasm and immediately relished the wide open spaces, nature and opportunities. Wilfried married his love Rita in 1962 and together their motto was to live life to the fullest. Wilfried loved to go camping, fishing and spent most of his weekends and summer holidays out at the family cottage in Lac Du Bonnet. Wilfried was an athlete as long as his body would allow him to be. He won several Canadian Championships in amateur wrestling, weightlifting and toured the province in acrobatic competitions. He was an avid soccer fan and even had a regular week night soccer game with the guys and never missed his daily workout at Shapes. Wilfried loved to do crossword/soduku puzzles, read and there was nothing he liked better than to have deep, thought provoking conversations with friends and family. Wilfried and Rita were often known as the life of the party and never missed an opportunity to dance and laugh. Wilfried was predeceased by his beloved wife Rita, his parents Albert and Herta Wurr and his mother-in-law Elizabeth Schulz. Our family invites anyone wishing to celebrate Wilfried's life to join us for a Remembrance Service on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. The service will be held at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 1291 McGillivray Blvd. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, a Memorial Contribution may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Wir lieben dich Papa, und vermissen dich sehr. Halt die Ohren steif! Thomson In the ParK 925-1120 Send expressions of sympathy to
