RUDOLPH (RUDY) PETERS Peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, Rudolph (Rudy) Peters passed away at Donwood Personal Care Home. Rudy was predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen (Kay) in 2007, his parents, Rudolph Sr. and Eleanor, sister Eleanor Wall, brother Otto Peters, a nephew and a great-nephew. He is survived by his nephew, Brian (Maria) Peters of Cape Breton and nieces June (Peter) Chichak of Edmonton, Judy (Peter) Paterson and Bonnie Boulet of Winnipeg, as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Rudy was born in Winnipeg, October 17, 1913 and grew up in the North End, where he attended Machray and St. John's High schools. For over 40 years, Rudy and Kay operated a successful heating and air-conditioning business. They enjoyed many years of square dancing with a group of friends and also travelled extensively in North America and Europe. Rudy was keenly interested in radio broadcasting. As a teenager, he hand built a radio receiver/transmitter and became an amateur ham operator. He was employed at radio station CKRC until 1940 when he joined the RCAF. In the RCAF he became a Signals Officer, responsible for maintenance of radio equipment at stations across Canada as well as being involved in training airmen in matters related to radio. In accordance with Rudy's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Inkster. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Donwood Personal Care Home, 171 Donwood Dr., Winnipeg, MB R2G 0V9 or to a charity of your choice. -73- CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
