LEONARD MARTIN CHRISTOPHER RALKIE (published on May 23, 2009)

LEONARD MARTIN CHRISTOPHER RALKIE Leonard Martin Christopher Ralkie passed away peacefully on May 15, 2009 at the age of 61 after a short battle with lung cancer. Len was born in the North End of Winnipeg, where he lived most of his life before moving to St. Andrews, where he and his family built their dream home in the country. He was one of three children born to Anna Ralkie and the late Jack Ralkie on the 8th of November, 1947. He is survived by his wife Pauline of 27 years, his daughter Shannon, his mother, Anna and his sisters Patricia and Jacqueline. After high school, Len began his 43-year-long career in the aerospace industry, beginning at Standard Aero and working his way up to the self-proclaimed sales-legend position at Aero Recip Ltd. For the last few years of his life, he managed and co-owned Propworks Propeller Systems Inc. from which he recently semi-retired, enjoying Mondays off with his wife. Len enjoyed camping, travelling, swimming, cruising in his 1966 Impala, record collecting and bargain hunting at scrap yards and on eBay. He was extremely talented and could restore a piece of junk into its original working state, including his prouder achievement his jukebox, which he loved to listen to. Most of all though, Len loved being around people and brought so much happiness to those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be missed dearly by his family, friends, co-workers and customers. The family requests that all donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Memorial service will be held on Monday, May 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with an interment and reception to follow. CHAPEL LAWN 885-9715
