ROLAND LACHANCE (published on May 23, 2009)

ROLAND LACHANCE (nee BOULET) Our beloved father, grandfather and friend, Roland of Winnipeg, MB, born April 4, 1937, passed away at Fort McMurray Hospital on May 18, 2009, at the age of 72 years. Predeceased by his mother, Eva Lachance and his loving wife Eliane. He leaves behind to mourn his passing his brother André Lachance (Cécile) of Winnipeg, his six children: Monique North of BC, Suzanne Abrey (Wayne) of Winnipeg, Aline Tabbert (Donald) of Alberta, Gail Schmidt (Bill) of Winnipeg, Thérèse Herda (Richard) of Beausejour and his son Normand Lachance (Patty) of Alberta, 21 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A carpenter by trade, Rolly loved to work with his hands. He did so until the very end. His profession took him to many places. His hobbies included building doll houses and all kinds of miniature pieces, and helping family with renovations. His creativity working with wood was exceptional. Rolly loved to play cards, had a great sense of humor and was always ready to help his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die. Prayers will be held on Sunday, May 24 at 3:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. Funeral will be held on Monday, May 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 778 Archibald Street. Burial will follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice. Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at: www.desjardins-funeral.ca DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
