TILLIE ANTON (published on May 23, 2009)



TILLIE ANTON November 3, 1925 May 19, 2009 Peacefully, on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 with family by her side, Tillie passed away at the age of 83 years at the Lions Personal Care Centre. She was born on November 3, 1925 in the Ashern, Mb. area, daughter of Julius and Rosalia Reitmeier. Due to the death of her mother shortly afterwards, she was cared for and raised by Benjamin and Margaret Isbister. Tillie met and married William Anton in 1942 and moved to Geraldton, Ontario where they spent over 40 years before moving to Selkirk in 1983 to retire and to be closer to family. She was predeceased by William in 1993. She will be sadly missed by her son Harvey and daughter-in-law Pat. She is also survived by her sisters Martha, Emma, Edith and Lorna and many nieces and nephews. Mom was a devoted mother and homemaker and kept a warm loving home for her son and husband. She enjoyed company and always made sure everyone was comfortable and well fed. She liked most hobbies and crafts and spent many hours making things for other people to enjoy. Fishing was also a favorite past time. Special thanks is extended to the staff and caregivers on the fourth floor of the Lions Personals Care Centre for their compassion and wonderful care they gave to mom. Also to those in the Supportive Housing Area of Lions Manor. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating. A viewing will be held one half hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the St. Clement's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation's may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba.
